MARK
Create a mask which represents you. I'm a dreamy person and I love looking and noticing things in the world, therefore this mask which represents how I feel about myself and the world around me.
First I made some sketches, I wanted to do something with my introverted and extraverted side.
I switched to a different mask full of eyes, I love observing, spotting new things, fuelling my inner designer. Therefore I chose to make a mask of eyes

This is a quick video sketch I did to try out the new tiktok platform & video settings
Some notes I made brainstorming for tiktok ideas and how to show the daily life of the basic millennial and what they surround themselves with during quarentine.

Some research regarding Teens on tiktok, what do they watch? What do they love? What do they hate?
THE FINAL TIKTOKS
What are their aesthetics?
What does a day in their quarentine life look like?
What do they love posting and talking about on social media?
How do they present themselves and do they care about their appearance?
Notes on the material presented during Marks class
My first brainstorms about the Basic Millennial
At first the name of our social group used to be: Basic B*tch, but we decided as a group that that was quite a negative way to name a group of people and therefore we would turn them more into a Stereotype rather than a Type, that's why we changed the name to:
Basic Millennial
The moment we created our knolling, we sectioned it into different kind of groups. These groups were:
Online Influence
Aesthetics
Fashion
Make-up
Attitude
Craze
Lifestyle
We did this to bring back a bit more of humanity into our type, because they are focussed a lot on possessions we noticed that we quickly dove into materialism.
It was also an interesting conversation to have about what kind of images fit into "attitude" and "lifestyle" and what the difference is between "online influence" and "lifestyle"
My first concept regarding the tiktok videos
Because my demographic was teens I decided to create some sort of video, teens spend a lot of time online and they also spend a lot of time on social media like tiktok and instagram (these are both social media based on images and videos.
Wise feedback from yinyin:
"it's ok to say something about a group if you show you also see the individual"
Eventually I decided on creating a tiktok, at this point I was still thinking about some sort of animation to get the attention of the teens
A storyboard I made regarding this "test video"
This test was already about showing a part of the life and culture of the Basic Millennial
I didn't want to go too materialistic so I tried to show the items they care about in a more indirect way (by not putting too much attention on them but rather letting them blend in with the background.)
More sketches and brainstorms
Conclusion of this project:
I've learned a lot regarding this social group when I tried to show their daily life, it also made me respect them more and not judge them as much as I'd used to.
I think also the fact that I tried becoming them for a day shows that literally anyone can be this type, even if that person doesn't look like the type at all they can still act like the type.
I thought that was really interesting about this project and I'm glad we had some classes on this subject.
It is also interesting to see what my other group members have created, therefore I will link their hotglue page here:
